Premiere trip for Dresden’s “new” ship
Vacuum cleaners, mops, and chamois leather recently set the pace, but now it’s back to the ship’s engines. Starting with the fleet parade on May 1st, the motor ship (MS) “Gräfin Cosel” will be back in service after a four-month renovation. The nearly 30-year-old ship has been completely renovated, receiving a new look, new technology, and a new interior.
New colors, new furniture
White, black, and anthracite are now the colors of the motor vessel. The bars inside and on the sun deck have been relocated, the lounge café now features comfortable sofas, and the main deck boasts the first conference room on a ship. The “Conference Deck” can accommodate up to 140 conference participants. Initial inquiries and bookings were received while the ship was still berthed at the shipyard.

Elegant and more usable
The goal of the renovation was to bring the ship, after 30 years of service on the Elbe, up to date with current visual expectations and technical requirements. This has now been completed. Managing Director Stefan Bloch: “We are proud of the ship. And we are convinced that the people of Dresden will quickly recognize its great charisma. It is a very elegant ship with modernly furnished rooms that can be used in a variety of ways – a successful renovation.”
Environmental award “Green Award Silver” for a million-dollar investment
WEIßE FLOLTTE SACHSEN GmbH invested approximately two million euros in the redesign and renovation of the motor vessel. The budget was approximately 1.7 million euros. Work on the wastewater system and additional welding on the hull made the project somewhat more expensive than originally planned. An international environmental award confirms the ship’s successful renovation. Managing Director Victor Straubhaar: “Not only is the appearance and the entire interior new, we have also invested in new technology.” He cites the new sprinkler system, which ensures fire protection, and the renovated wastewater system as examples. “The reward for this is the Green Award Silver, a prestigious seal of quality for ships that meet high safety and environmental standards.”
