Start in the morning at 09:30 a.m. in Bad Schandau for your day trip to Königstein. After arriving in Königstein at 10:00 a.m., you have until 3:45 p.m. to climb the fortress hill—on foot or by Fortress Express. In addition to numerous exhibitions, you can marvel at the oldest surviving barracks in Germany, the deepest well in Saxony, the first Saxon garrison church, and a replica of Augustus the Strong’s legendary giant barrel.
Or you can simply hike around the beautiful surroundings of the small town of Königstein.
At 3:45 p.m. the steamer takes you back to Bad Schandau. The return trip takes a relaxed 45 minutes.
