After rain comes sunshine – the WHITE FLEET is back on track!
The past few weeks have been anything but easy for WEIßE FLOTTE SACHSEN GmbH. It all began with an unexpected event on September 11th, when parts of the Carola Bridge collapsed. Fortunately, there were no injuries, and our ships remained undamaged. Nevertheless, this incident presents us with immense challenges, as important shipping routes were suddenly blocked. However, as an experienced shipping company, we reacted quickly. Our team adjusted the schedule so that we can continue to offer our guests a fantastic cruising experience despite the restrictions.
Just as we had somewhat recovered from this shock, the next challenge loomed: flooding. Once again, all ships had to be brought to safety. Our digital display and ticket machines at the piers were dismantled, and the ticket office on the terrace bank and storage areas were cleared. Then the anxious wait began: How high would the water rise? How long would we have to stay out of service? It was a nerve-wracking time full of uncertainty.
But even in such moments, the saying holds true: After rain, sunshine. After days of anxiety, the water levels receded faster than expected, and the cleanup could begin. It was a great relief to see that the safety measures had worked and our fleet remained unharmed.
Now, about two weeks after the bridge collapse, we are proud to announce that WEIßE FLOTTE SACHSEN GmbH is back in service! Thanks to the tireless efforts of our team, we have developed new cruises, adjusted routes, and established alternative moorings. This means we can finally offer our guests the opportunity to enjoy the beauty of Dresden and its surroundings from the water again.
