The Paddle steamer “Leipzig”

The paddle steamer “Leipzig” was built in 1929 and is thus the youngest and also the largest paddle steamer in the fleet of the Saxon Steamship Company. As a sister ship of the PD “Dresden”, it too has elegantly furnished salons and spacious open decks.

“The ship is a so-called Rhine type. (…) The new steamer [wurde] built 1 m longer at the rear to compensate for the slight stern heaviness as in the PD “Dresden”. In 1928, the Pirna Tourist Association asked to give the new steamer to be built the name “Pirna”. However, the city of Leipzig was awarded the contract. “* In 2019, he celebrated his 90th birthday.
